Youth Overview

Youth (ages 7 – 12)

At Pacific Kicks, we believe youth, at age 7, are old enough to begin learning the details of Tae Kwon Do techniques, combinations and forms. Our focus for youth classes continues to be one of creating a positive, safe and exciting classroom experience. Youth classes are very similar to adult classes however with reduced physical requirements. Our emphasis on focus, control and mental discipline help us develop a well-rounded student, ready to face life’s challenges with the goal of enhancing physical and motor skill development, and building character and confidence.

Youth classes are open to adults for those parents and family members who want to participate as a family. If you are not able to participate,  we encourage you to stay and watch your student’s class.

Belt Advancement

Our belt progression system is specifically designed to keep children motivated and reward them for positive behavior—both inside and outside of the Tae Kwon Do school. As students advance in rank, they are awarded a series of solid-color belts, beginning with white and proceeding toward black. In addition to earning belts, students can also earn stripes within a belt color, as a way to further measure and award progress while building their self-esteem and rewarding a positive attitude, at home and at school. Belt advancement testing is offered monthly and eligible students may participate in these tests to advance to their next rank.

A full description of our belt progression system can be found in our Teens and Adults Program Guide, which you can download in pdf format by clicking the link below.
